Dear Community Members:
The A.E.R.O. Special Education Cooperative (A.E.R.O.) purchased the former Queen of Peace High School campus located at 7659 South Linder Ave. in August of 2018. A.E.R.O. is now moving forward with our goal to build a new state of art special education facility. As good neighbors, we’re letting you know that we will begin demolition of the existing buildings on October 14, 2019, as the existing buildings cannot be renovated to meet the vast physical needs of A.E.R.O. students. A.E.R.O. intends to build a new special education facility which will allow us to enhance the services that we deliver to the most vulnerable students in our communities.
Please be informed that A.E.R.O. provides special education services to students from II-member public school districts in the southwest suburbs serving Argo, Evergreen Park, Reavis and Oak Lawn High Schools along with 7 of their feeder elementary districts. Since 1963, A.E.R.O. has provided special education programming and an array of related services to students with physical and intellectual disabilities residing in the 11-member school districts.
The contractor is scheduled to begin the demolition work on October 14, 2019 and will continue through April 30, 2020. During the demolition phase of the project, there will be a lot of construction activity.
The A.E.R.O. Administration will be working closely with our architect and contractors to create the least disruptive situation possible. The safety of the Burbank community is the highest priority for the A.E.R.O. Special Education Cooperative as we proceed through the demolition phase of this project.
If you have any questions concerning the demolition, please feel free to contact me at (708) 496-3330.
