April 4, 2020
Dear AERO families,
This announcement is for AERO families whose child or young adult follow the AERO/PRIDE School Calendar.
I hope this message finds you and your families safe and well. As you already know, Governor Pritzker announced that remote learning and shelter-in-place in Illinois will be extended through April 30th in order to slow down the spread of COVID-19. This will mean that AERO/PRIDE Schools and all AERO Member District Schools’ and offices will remain closed through April 30th.
While it is not ideal, we want to assure you that the AERO/PRIDE teachers and staff are fully engaged and willing to take on this new challenge and push forward with remote learning and engaging with students. Please be informed that in order for our teachers and staff to provide meaningful instruction, on Monday, AERO/PRIDE teachers will be contacting parents to inform them on the Remote Learning Plans. On Tuesday and Wednesday, AERO/PRIDE teachers will be completing professional development and planning remote learning instruction. Remote
Learning will begin on Thursday, April 9th.
Please note on both Friday, April 10th and Monday, April 13th there will be no remote learning. These two days were already scheduled as days off.
Here are a few additional reminders as well:
- For families who need paper copies, please contact your child’s teacher.
- If your child or young adult will not have access to the internet at home for remote learning days, please let your teacher know as soon as possible.
I know this is not the school year that any of us imagined, but I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we implement the AERO Remote Learning Plan. We cannot replicate the learning that would happen person-to-person in a classroom setting. Things will be different but know that our staff is working to make the best of this situation and working to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences. They miss your child/young adult and miss the energy that a class of students brings to their day!
We realize that each of you has different life circumstances and availability. Please stay in contact with your child’s teacher(s) if you have questions about instructional work or assignments. It is likely we will make some modifications as the month progresses. We will keep you posted on any updates.
During this time, more than ever, it is important that we continue to work together and support our students. Stay healthy and safe.
